David French, Senior Corporate Account Manager

Please tell us a bit about your professional background, what attracted you to working at Gazprom Energy, and how long you’ve been with the business.

I’ve been working in energy for nearly 20 years now. I’ve previously worked for another energy supplier and in 2020 I joined Gazprom Energy, attracted by Gazprom Energy’s excellent market reputation and plans to expand within the electricity market.

Prior to the interview process I met with the Manager of Corporate Accounts and the Head of UK Sales and Marketing and really liked their professional, but very friendly attitude, this influenced my decision when accepting the role.

What is your position within the team, and what does your role involve day-to-day?

I’m a Senior Corporate Account Manager within the corporate team. My portfolio is split between looking after Third-Party Intermediaries (TPI’s) and some of our largest direct gas and electricity users.

Whilst most of my time is spent ensuring our clients happy, I also enjoy the researching part of the role, using my range of contacts to develop new leads, with the aim of bringing more new business to Gazprom Energy in the UK, France and the Netherlands.

What makes Gazprom Energy different to other business energy suppliers?

Gazprom Energy has a long, established history and reputation of providing excellent customer service but coupled with very competitive energy prices.

We go the extra mile for our customers, providing them with a personalised approach to the level of service we provide. We also display a real level of expertise which is key when developing relationships with our corporate clients.

What do you find enjoyable and satisfying about your role within the business?

Every day is different. You never quite know what each day is going to bring. I enjoy working with my colleagues on the corporate team and all the integral teams that we rely on to service our customers. My role specifically requires regular interaction with marketing, credit risk, legal, billing, metering, customer services, to name a few!

I’m looking forward to future challenges and hoping I can use my expertise and skills to help us achieve our goals as a team, and a company.

What skills has your role enabled you to develop, and how do you put these into practice to benefit our customers?

Being an account manager, organisation is key. We’re regularly sending prices, solving queries, developing new business leads – and being well organised is important to keeping on top of everything.

Since joining Gazprom Energy in February 2020, the pandemic meant I had to juggle my role as a parent to two young children with my role here, so organisation has been critical to enable me to perform both roles well.
