With another year done and dusted, and a new one up and running, catch up on Gazprom Energy’s biggest news stories from the final months of 2018, including articles from our Head of Customer Optimisation and Head of UK Retail, as well as our continued approach to employee happiness.
Penning an article for Energy, Oil & Gas, our very own Head of Customer Optimisation, Phil Ivers, gave his thoughts on the significant changes happening within the UK energy market.
Phil mentions key market mergers, independent supplier growth and the pushback experienced by ‘sleeping’ customers on standard variable tariffs, with some big changes taking place now and for the foreseeable future.
Additionally, Phil points to upcoming regulations that the energy market is set to face, along with fluctuating gas and electricity prices, as further reason for concern within the industry. And with the onset of another potentially tough winter, both industry leaders and new entrants will have to be well prepared.
As part of a discussion featuring a select group of North West businesses conducted by Insider Media, Head of UK Retail Grace Rothery cast an analytical eye over the previous 12 months as well as the year ahead.
Moving from the Head of Legal in January, it was a time of massive change for Grace. “The highlight of 2018 for me has been moving from a specialist role into running the business” she says. After the year’s successes, Grace is keen to implement long-term thinking as a way to protect our position in the market, especially after the failure of several energy businesses in the month of November.
As for the year ahead, Grace is looking to focus on developing relationships with small and medium-sized businesses, particularly when it comes to servicing them through digital and technological means. Be sure to check out the article in full for the rest of Grace’s thoughts.

Daria Tishchenko, HR Analyst at Gazprom Energy, says: “We are also doing more work on the equality, inclusion and diversity side. One of the steps we have taken so far is a partnership with organisations across the industry by joining the POWERful Women group.
