We’re delighted to report that this leading position now marks the third time in a row that we have reached this achievement. Industry reporting from Cornwall Insight provides a holistic view of the UK gas and electricity markets, comparing companies within the industry, as well as providing a leader board of company performance.
Last year, Gazprom Energy took the market share for business gas for the first time when the report came out in July, the details of which can be read about here. The report, which cited our improving customer service, market development and overall position, led to us become the UK’s largest supplier of non-domestic gas by volume, with the highest share of the market since the report was first issued in 2005. Following the release of the report in January earlier this year, our top spot was not only retained, our market share saw an increase too.
In Cornwall Insight’s latest report, issued in July 2018, the same thing has happened again – with an incremental increase in volume market share from 21.3% to 21.7%, meaning Gazprom Energy is now one position above Total Gas & Power (which has a market share of 18.9%) and two places above Corona (which has a market share of 11.7%).
Grace Rothery, Head of UK Retail for Gazprom Energy, commented: “It’s fantastic news that we’ve maintained our position as market leader for the third time in a row. This has been a pivotal year for Gazprom Energy, and we’ve been working on a lot of projects internally to make our customer experience better. To continue leading the market during this time is absolutely fantastic, and testament to all the hard work of my colleagues.
