What attracted you to Gazprom Energy?

I had just finished my degree in Biology and was looking for a full time role. I didn’t want to pursue a career in the sciences and I really enjoyed working in customer services when I was at university so when I saw this role at Gazprom Energy I thought I would give it a try! I knew a couple of people who already worked at Gazprom Energy so I could see how rapidly it was expanding and how your career could progress.

Why do you think you've progressed?

It’s all down to positive attitude and hard work! The past few years have been quite challenging because we’ve had to maintain high standards of service whilst undergoing massive growth. To do that we’ve had to stay positive and focus on ways of improving processes constantly and quickly! By making process improvements, we’ve been able to introduce additional services to our customers.

What support and guidance were you given during your development?

My initial training was ‘on the job’ - another member of the customer services team acted as my buddy and showed me the ropes. I liked this hands-on approach to learning and think I was able to learn quicker than I would have in a classroom. Everyone in my team was very approachable and supportive when I first started. I’ve also learnt a lot through job shadowing and Lunchtime Learning sessions. Not only are these great opportunities to network with colleagues but you also learn more about the business and the big picture at Gazprom Energy. In my second year I was paired with a mentor from our senior management team. I’d say this was one of the most beneficial learning experiences I’ve had because it made me focus on my personal development and realise what I wanted to achieve in my career. I also have a close relationship with my line manager who constantly coaches me and gives me feedback on my performance.

Where do you see your career with Gazprom Energy in the future?

I’d like to continue to develop my skills as Customer Services Manager. This is a fairly new role for me so the more experience and development I can get, the better. I’d also like Gazprom Energy to win some awards for our customer service. I want us to be known for our brilliant customer experience!
