Please tell us a bit about your professional background, what attracted you to working at Gazprom Energy, and how long you’ve been with the business.
I am a University of Manchester graduate with a BSc (Hons) in Biology. Gazprom Energy is the starting point of my career and I began my current role in Feb 2017 after a successful six months in a temporary position with the company. Gazprom Energy has become the largest B2B gas supplier in the UK in just over ten years, and it is this unprecedented growth and success that ensured working for the business was an opportunity I was not going to miss out on.
What is your position within the team, and what does your role involve day-to-day?
As a Transactional Analyst on the Energy Procurement Desk which is responsible for providing our industrial and commercial customers with a route to the wholesale gas and power markets, both here in the UK and in continental Europe. More specifically, it is my job to analyse customer transactions in order to better manage our portfolio and to further understand our customers’ needs.
What do you find enjoyable and satisfying about your role within the business?
I firmly enjoy the analytics aspects of my role; I find it satisfying when I am presented with a dataset and able to draw conclusions from it. As a Transactional Analyst, I am tasked with studying buying strategies, products, the market, and everything in between. It is highly satisfying when findings are used to improve and grow an area of the business.
What skills has your role enabled you to develop, and how do you put these into practice to benefit our customers?
Through my role, I have developed an excellent understanding of the UK and European energy markets, and trading activity specifics. It is our role on the EPD to pass this specialist knowledge onto our customers through interaction. In doing so, we are facilitating informed and educated customer procurement decisions.
