Ashley Armitage, Senior Corporate Account Manager

Please tell us a bit about your professional background, what attracted you to working at Gazprom Energy, and how long you’ve been with the business.

I’ve been with Gazprom Energy for five years and the initial attraction was the high aspirations the business had – and still has today. It’s been my first ‘real job’ since completing a four-year degree and then working for a year as a Sabbatical Officer for one of the top student unions in the UK.

I initially worked as a negotiator on fixed price products in the Mid-Market team, before becoming a team leader, and then moving into the Corporate Accounts team to look after our customers with flexible purchasing agreements. I’m an ambitious person and the company both shares this goal and supports their employees to achieve career progression – which is great.

What is your position within the team, and what does your role involve day-to-day?

I’m now a Senior Corporate Account Manager and my core focus is leading on our large I&C TPI accounts. On the team, we purely look at flexible purchasing contracts and my role involves developing strong relationships with a variety of TPIs to grow our flex portfolio.

Alongside that, I manage many large I&C customer portfolios, look at product development and work on developing our wider team strategy.

What makes Gazprom Energy different to other business energy suppliers?

The industry can be quite a complex place to navigate and one thing we look to do is support our customers by making things as simple as possible. We keep clear, consistent product terms and have had great reviews of the various regulatory updates we offer. I also believe we’re an incredibly personable company and our first answer is never ‘no’ – we’re always looking for solutions to further enhance our capabilities and the relationships we build with customers and TPIs.

What do you find enjoyable and satisfying about your role within the business?

The Corporate Accounts Team has a fantastic work ethic and is a great environment to be in. We’re quite a young team when compared to similar functions across the industry, but I don’t think that holds us back in any way. We’ve seen some amazing growth in the past few years, and it’s easy to see how my role contributes to that – as well as how the team’s efforts contribute to wider business goals.
