What is a smart meter?

Smart meters are the next generation of gas and electricity meters.  They measure your energy usage and use a secure, wireless network to send meter readings to your energy supplier each month. 

Why should I get a smart meter installed?

Smart meters offer a range of benefits, allowing you to take advantage of the following features:

  1. Automated meter readings – you no longer need to contact your supplier to provide them with your latest meter readings. With a smart meter, this data is sent automatically each month. Find out more about AMR and smart metering, here.
  2. More accurate bills – smart meters mean saying goodbye to estimated meter readings. That also means your bills will be calculated based on your actual energy usage.
  3. They’re free – there are no installation costs incurred by customers who have a smart meter installed.

To request a smart meter, please complete the short form below. Once we’ve received your request, our third-party specialist, Energy Assets, will be in touch to arrange a suitable time and date to visit your site.

Can I still switch suppliers if I have a smart meter installed?

Yes, you’re still able to switch suppliers if you have a smart meter installed by Gazprom Energy. It will be up to your new supplier to agree on the best arrangement for your smart technology going forward.
